Waterworld – indoor swimming pool in Beroun

The Waterworld in Beroun is a new building of a water park adjoining an existing ice-hockey rink. The building houses a 25 m swimming pool in a separate hall. There is also a recreational pool with massage beds, water spouts, and a cave with a pool containing a wave machine, a bench with massage jets and a water geyser. There is also a children’s swimming pool with a slide, water mushroom, paddling pool and, separately, there is a whirlpool in the hall of the relaxation pool. A specific part of this structure is a hall with water slides, where the entrance and exit of the outdoor water slide, indoor wide waterslide and dual straight slide can be found. The heating of the swimming pool complex is provided by boilers, which pump in water from wells situated very close to the swimming pool. Taking into consideration that the swimming pool is located on the confluence of the rivers Berounka and Litavka, the project had to be designed and built in a special way, so that it would withstand a possible Q100 flood (so-called hundred year flood).
