Stage 1 of the project dealt with the reconstruction of the present historical building and the addition of new structures with the aim of creating a well-arranged, functionally divided IOCB complex conforming to the requirements and reflecting the needs of a state-of-the-art science facility. The main focus of Stage 1 project included the construction of a new building B – new organic chemistry laboratory structures (SO 120 – B) – and the reconstruction of part of the current historical main building A (SO 110), particularly the south-east wing. This resulted in the creation of an integrated scientific complex mainly comprising of premises for scientific teams including dedicated laboratories with adjacent assessment facilities and support. The construction within the scope of Stage 1 further included several other structures and smaller technological structures whose purpose excludes their location in the main buildings (e.g. waste storage facility, etc.) and building G (SO 150 – underground garage building).
