A new emergency medicine center will be built on the site of the original development, which dates back to the mid-19th century. Specifically, in 1845, the so-called final stone of the Liberec hospital building was laid, which the center will replace. Selected original elements, such as the stained glass from the chapel, will undergo restoration work, for which the architectural studio has designed installations in the new spaces to preserve the original genius loci. Another interesting feature is the creation of a full-glass communication corridor, where at one level, both the walls and the floor will be made of glass.
The construction will also bring purely functional and modern building principles. With the emergence of the center, there will be a connection between the new pavilion, the parking garage, and the existing buildings A, including the department of follow-up care. Construction work will first affect this facility. Builders must create a protruding glass façade that will serve for sound insulation from the construction operations of the parking area. In addition to the wall, another significant modification will involve the creation of a new entrance and elevator. The parking garage will have space for 330 cars, and its underground area will also contain a sizable technological section. Here, a completely new energy center for the entire hospital complex will be established, which includes a hot water network, ventilation systems, and a rotary UPS that ensures the immediate supply of electrical power during a power outage. All of this must be managed by the builders while the hospital remains fully operational.Photo: Regional Hospital Liberec
